Wedding Traditions are varied and diverse among every culture & faith.

In the Jewish religion, couples choose a “ketubah”, otherwise known as a Decorative Marriage Certificate, a traditional and beautiful part of their wedding ceremony. A Ketubah is an artistic design combined with traditional Hebrew and Poetic English Vow texts. Although its traditional purpose was to specify the legal obligations of a groom to his bride, today a Ketubah is one of the prime objects of Judaic artistic expression, and it serves as a permanent and beautiful symbol of mutual commitment and partnership.

Many Asian couples honor their parents through elaborate “Tea Ceremonies” which take place during the wedding ceremony. Tea is offered to the couples’ parents as a token of gratitude and love.

Amish wedding ceremonies enjoy a wonderful tradition of having all guests’ present sign as witness on either the back of the actual Wedding Vow document or on a separate signing document.

Vow Text

Whether traditional wedding vows or modern day sentiment, it is a beautiful custom to honor the words which you will say to each other on your wedding day.  We offer many different texts which poetically convey traditional concepts of love and commitment. Each original, unique and beautiful English text that we offer is an integral part of any wedding certificate. All of our texts can be customized to better reflect your own unique situation and love. Or, be adventurous and write your own vow text together. Signature Lines

To validate the wedding contract/vows, traditional Jewish weddings call upon witnesses to sign the ketubah before the ceremony. There are often signature lines for the Bride and Groom as well as the Officiating Rabbi or Clergy member.   Of course, there are all sorts of variations on who is honored through signature. Traditional Amish weddings honor all of the wedding guests by having them sign either a separate sheet of paper or the back of the formal wedding certificate.  If you like this custom and wish to honor special guests, our studio is happy to customize a set of signature lines that will be appropriate for your wedding ceremony.

Presentation

In most Jewish Wedding ceremonies, the ketubah is prominently displayed during the wedding ceremony as it is common for the Rabbi or Officiating Clergy to read the vow text words aloud during the ceremony. Afterwards, the ketubah is placed on display at the reception for all guests to see, read and admire.  After wedding day, most couples professionally frame their wedding certificate and hang it in their home; not only a work of art but a beautiful daily reminder of their love and commitment to each other.
